Meet Lea Kim, Marketing Coordinator at EGC
This past May, Lea Kim joined EGC Group in the role of Marketing Coordinator. Despite having majored in Business Management and minored in Legal Studies at Farmingdale State College, along with prior marketing experience as a media buyer, Lea believes it is essential to always be willing to learn.
Here, Lea explains what, how, and from whom she is gaining knowledge, and how it is helping strengthen her professional abilities.
What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why do you feel it’s important for EGC clients?
I learn a lot from my colleagues every day. In fact, every client call is a learning opportunity. Currently, I’m learning the ins and outs of being a great account manager. Watching from the backend has really helped me to understand that attending to the needs of our clients is much more than developing a sign or social post. It’s being an ear to listen and someone they can depend on. This sense of transparency is critical to the growth of the client/agency relationship. I think that’s what makes EGC stand apart. We operate as an extension of each client’s business.
If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?
If I could become an expert in anything, I would probably choose to be a better writer. I can talk all day long on the phone or get up in the front of the room for a Zoom presentation with no problem. But when it comes to writing my thoughts out, it always takes me a minute longer than I’d like it to. This is something I continuously work at daily. I admire our proofreader and am thankful he’s there. (Thanks JB.)
What’s the best advice you have been given from someone at EGC so far?
The best advice I have been given was from Jamie Erhardt. When speaking about our clients, she always makes it a point to say that this is their livelihood. I think that line is very important when listening to a client’s pain-and-gain points, because this is his or her everyday reality as a business owner. It helps to put things into perspective for me as a part of their marketing team. Our goal is to grow and support the business in any way we can.
