Members of the EGC team recently returned from Portugal, where they attended the STARS (Stuttering Treatment and Research Society) inaugural Interdisciplinary Clinical Advisory Meeting. The meeting brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and communications partners committed to developing evidence-based guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of stuttering.

Gerald Maguire, MD, President and Founder of STARS

For EGC, the meeting reinforced something we see across our healthcare clients: The organizations making the biggest impact are the ones combining clinical expertise with modern media and communications strategy. It’s not enough to do important work. You need to make sure the right audiences can find it, understand it, and act on it.

At this, STARS’ first interdisciplinary clinical advisory meeting, physicians, speech-language pathologists, professors, researchers, and people who stutter gathered to brainstorm ideas and create guidelines to promote research and treatment in shaping the future of stuttering awareness and care.

Sessions consisted of breakout groups who collaborated on discussing best practices, identifying gaps in the field of stuttering, and outlining actionable recommendations.

Congratulations to STARS for hosting this worthwhile event to advance the care and treatment to the stuttering community.
