Through the efforts of Suade, International Stuttering Awareness Day is achieving greater visibility for its mission.

Earlier this week, Gerald Maguire, MD, President and Founder of STARS (Stuttering Treatment and Research Society) was featured in the leading neurology news publication, Neurology Live. The story drew attention to STARS and the need for greater awareness and acknowledgement of stuttering. Dr. Maguire, who stutters himself, dove deep into the process of diagnosing the condition, proposed developments of new treatments, and shared the success of the inaugural STARS Research & Education Conference, which was held a few weeks ago.

As a person who himself stutters, Dr. Maguire has dedicated his entire life to stuttering research and launched STARS in January 2025. As awareness for this neurological disorder rises, funding for research and treatment is seeing a positive impact—but more still needs to be done. The Suade team is so proud to represent STARS and the continued mission to destigmatize stuttering and improve the lives of the more than three million people who stutter in the United States.
