EGC Group Launches Mobile App for NYC Detectives' Endowment Association
EGC Group is proud to announce the launch of a new iOS and Android mobile app for the New York City Detectives' Endowment Association (DEA).
EGC has been partners with the DEA since a 2017 project to completely overhaul its website. As part of this project, a brand new member login system was created. This system gave the DEA’s 19,000 active and retired detectives access to important information, which includes health benefits, contracts, events, and news.
This past summer, the DEA approached EGC to create an app which would enable the sending of mobile notifications to its members. This feature is critical, as it allows the DEA to alert each member about important votes, events, and news – without the member having to go to the website.
Internally, our goals for the project included:
- Syncing membership login info with the website, so the detectives would only need a single username and password.
- Flow of information from the website to the app, so the DEA staff only have to edit content in one place.
- Simple display of the most critical content, such as benefits, news, events calendar, and resource documents.
- Building this as a “hybrid app” to keep costs down. Hybrid apps are built on one platform, and then exported to both iOS and Android without the need for separate builds.
Since launch, the app has been extremely well received by the active and retired detectives, as well as the DEA staff:
“Our members truly appreciate how easy it is to use this app to get the information they need and receive notifications about important events. The EGC team also made it easy for the DEA staff to manage the website and app content from a central location.”
-Carmine Russo, Executive Director of the Detectives' Endowment Association
EGC Group plans on releasing future improvements to the app in the coming months, including features such as Face ID, and calendar syncing, among others.
