EGC Explains Why TikTok is Smart Marketing to SmartBrief

EGC President Nicole Penn was quoted in a recent edition of SmartBrief about the benefits that TikTok brings to marketing campaigns.

In a feature story that about the movie, “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” and its corresponding “Gentleminions” TikTok videos—where teenagers and young men imitate the villainous title character—SmartBrief points out some amazingly impressive statistics. The “Gentleminions” hashtag, for example, has as of this writing, earned over 56 million views that feature users offering up their best impressions of Gru.

Universal Pictures, which produced the movie, knows what it is doing. The trick, as Nicole points out, is staying timely and topical:

“It’s crucial to stay in the loop on the latest fads, as they go away quickly. If executed correctly, however, implementing a trend can be a great way to get creative and jump into the conversation.”
