What exactly do you "do" at EGC?
I ask questions. Lots of questions. Hopefully some of the right questions. I get to know our clients, their customers, competitors, business goals, products and services. I help our team to identify and understand where we should be going, and put together a strategic springboard to get us get there.
The role of Strategy is a lot like navigation. Some people like to fly by the seat of their pants. I prefer to use Waze. It’s comforting to know where you need to go, and what the road to get there looks like. I love selling, and that starts with understanding your audience, and what will be meaningful and motivating to them. How we define that audience and create an understanding of them is, to me, one of the most interesting things we could ever do.
I started my career at 40-person shop, then spent 15 years at global giants like Grey, Saatchi & Saatchi, and FCB. Regardless of size, what worked best was when teams were integrated across disciplines, and sat and worked closely together (not an elevator or plane ride apart). EGC is just the right size, and is a place where we can pull in all types of expertise without leaving the room, insights are always coming from unexpected places, and we can work on ideas that live just about anywhere. How cool is that?
