In the spirit of giving back and being good corporate citizens, on September 18th and 19th, EGC’s employees and our friends in the creative community joined forces to donate more than 1,000 hours to the 2008 CreateAthon, a remarkable round-the- clock effort to produce public awareness campaigns for local not-for-profits.
As the only Metro New York agency selected to participate in CreateAthon, we created campaigns – from concept to completion – for a broad spectrum of charities, ranging from Autism United to the Rainforest Alliance.

Although we’re a little weary and in some cases still recovering from our efforts, we’re happy to report that it was a big success. For both our clients and us. Here’s a quick look inside the event:
The planning:
Prior to the marathon session, we divided into teams—one for each charity. Each team spent time learning about the goals and objectives of their respective charity and then developed a creative brief.
The big event:
On Thursday morning, the teams regrouped and got down to business. Under the umbrella of “Give Back,” teams collaborated on their designated charities and over the next 24-odd hours, created campaigns that would normally have taken weeks to fashion.Fortunately, our clients helped out by allowing us to put their work on hold in favor of our CreateAthon assignments.
The work:
In 24 hours, we produced five new campaigns that will help our charity partners receive not just significant exposure, but the support they need.
