Twitter & THE Holiday Party
We’re going to be twittering like MadMen during our agency holiday party this year with tweets from what’s happening at the party, what we’re hearing about the advertising industry and the economy and asking attendees questions you want answered. You can leave a comment or email me at tonyv@egcgroup.com.
Some of you might be thinking “What is Twitter?” Twitter is a micro-blogging service that lets users send short “tweets” or updates to users of the service. The updates can only be 140 characters, which as you can imagine does not allow for much detail or babbling. Typically you receive short updates on what is going on, what people are doing or some things to check out. If you’re a Facebook junkie you can correlate it to status updates. Who is using Twitter? MTV, Wholefoods, JetBlue, Cisco, Washington Post, etc.
Will Twitter reach mass scale? Some iteration of Twitter will become mass scale, but it appears that the social networking scene is fragmenting so much that at some point, some of these ideas will consolidate to make one mass-appeal type service (Facebook Anyone?).
So send us your questions; there will be a lot of big leaguers in the house and we’ll see what we can up with. If nothing else, it should be a good time! To find the twitter feed you can follow “egcgroup” on Twitter or it will be posting live on our blog for the party.
